The Narmer card from Shoulders of Giants

Narmer was an Egyptian king who united Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt around 3100 BCE. Upper Egypt was in the south, along the narrow Nile valley. Lower Egypt was in the north, where the Nile spreads out into the delta. By bringing them together, Narmer began a long line of kings that ruled Egypt for about 3,000 years. Much of what we know about him comes from the Narmer Palette, a carved stone slab found in 1898. On one side, Narmer wears the tall white crown of Upper Egypt. On the other side, he wears the red crown of Lower Egypt. Later Egyptian kings wore both crowns together as a double crown to show that they ruled a united land. According to tradition, he founded the city of Memphis.
